I’m Matt Buchanan, a healthcare worker on the front lines of our healthcare system, and I’m running for County Commissioner because I see every day what happens when government stops working for ordinary people. Overcrowded emergency rooms, untreated mental illness, rising housing costs, and families stretched thin. These aren’t talking points, they’re real life in Gaston County.

I believe local government should be practical, honest, and focused on results. That means safer communities, affordable housing, reliable infrastructure, and a healthcare system that helps people before they reach a crisis point. It also means respecting taxpayers and making sure county dollars are spent wisely and transparently.

I’m not a career politician. I’m running because I love this county and believe we can do better by investing in people, supporting workers, and building a future where everyone has a fair shot.
